Forks Township Comprehensive Plan Meeting

A joint workshop between the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will be held on July 10, 2008 at 7:00 after the normal PC meeting.  The purpose of the workshop is to review the current version of Comprehensive Plan and gather additional public input.

The plan states" The Township cannot implement this plan alone. Involvement is needed by residents, neighborhood organizations, civic groups, businesses, institutions, property-owners, and many other groups".

The current plan can be view at the Forks Township web site.  The Comprehensive plan has the following sections:

1. Major benefits of the Comprehensive Plan.

2. Coordination with the Regional Comprehensive Plan.

3. Regional Location

4. Direction: The Major Goals of this plan.

5. Natural Features and Agricultural Conservation Plan.

6. Land Use and Housing Plan

7. Historic Preservation Plan

8. Economic Development Plan

9. Community Facilities and Service Plan (aka Recreation Plan)
10. Transportation Plan

11. Putting this plan into action.

It is really important the public attend this meeting.  I realize that public input is the cornerstone of any robust comprehensive plan.  Let me share one of the major goals of the Comprehensive Plan (Page 75): "Promote substantial Public Input, including making sure residents are well-informed about community issues and encouraging volunteer efforts to improve the community".

Every Voice Counts!
