Advice to the Northampton County Council

It is about that time again. It is time to start the latest round of "Lets Choose a County Council Member". I must admit the opening statement of this blog is a bit sarcastic, but I am wondering how the council will actually pick a new member.

Right now, we have 16 people who have applied for the Northampton County Council vacancy. According to the Morning Call, we have eight Democrats, seven Republicans, and one person from the Constitution party. In all seriousness, this is a very important appointment.

As I have stated before, please stop the political in-fighting and think about the people of Northampton County. This is your chance to appoint a person that is not tied to any political party dogma. Choose a person with an independent spirit who is willing to represent the people of Northampton County - period.

If the County Council is unable to agree on an person to fill the vacancy, it will be an embarrassment.  It will show we have not learned the lessons of the 2008 election. The people want to change how our government operates and is expecting our political leaders to create an bi-partisan approach in resolving our issues.

The people of Northampton County deserve and demand our best and brightest. It is time to act!
